BLVCK MILK
About the Artist

BLVCK MILK

One artist, one room, and no middleman anywhere in between.

BLVCK MILK is one artist, one room and a lot of paper. Work is made in daylight, photographed on the same wall it was painted on, and sent out without a middleman.

Eighty works are published so far, and seventy-seven of them can also be had as a signed print. Originals sell once; the prints keep the work in circulation without pretending to be the painting.

How the work is made

Everything begins by hand — brush, ink or the body itself. Nothing here is generated, and nothing is printed until somebody asks for it. An original is one of one: when it sells, it is gone.

The body prints are made the same way. Ink, contact, paper. The body is both the brush and the plate, and the mark is whatever it left.

Prints

Prints are produced on 300 gsm satin stock at the artwork's own proportions. Nothing is stretched or cropped to fit a paper size, which is why the sizes on each piece are listed in real centimetres rather than as a paper code alone.

Commissions

The studio takes commissions — a painting for one particular wall, or a mural. Write to the studio and the conversation starts with a brief: what the piece is for, where it will live, and what it must and must not contain.
